What size should your LED mirror be?
The most common question we get in the workshop. Here are the rules of thumb we give every customer — and because every Lume mirror is cut to order, you can follow them exactly instead of settling for the nearest stock size.
Width: match it to your vanity
For a mirror above a basin or vanity unit, the classic proportion is a mirror 5–10 cm (2–4 inches) narrower than the vanity, centred over it. This frames the mirror with a sliver of wall on each side and always looks deliberate.
- Wall-to-wall look — match the vanity width exactly. Popular in modern bathrooms and with backlit (halo) mirrors.
- Double basins — either one wide mirror spanning both, or two mirrors each centred on a basin with a clear gap between them.
- Bedroom & dressing walls — go bigger than feels natural. A mirror that fills 60–80% of the wall section it sits on makes the room feel larger and doubles the light.
Height: cover the eye line
Most vanity mirrors are 32–40 inches (800–1000 mm) tall. The practical test: everyone in the house should see their full head and shoulders. Hang the mirror so its centre sits at about eye level — roughly 155–165 cm (61–65 inches) from the floor for most Indian households — and check the tallest user still has headroom in the reflection.

Round mirrors: pick the diameter by proportion
A round mirror above a vanity looks best at a diameter of roughly 60–80% of the vanity width. Over a 36-inch vanity, that means a 24–28 inch mirror; over a 48-inch vanity, a 30–36 inch one.
Irregular and custom shapes
Arches, clouds, waves and fully organic outlines follow the same width and height logic — size the bounding box (the widest and tallest points) as you would a rectangle. Since every Lume mirror is cut to your drawing, you can send a sketch with measurements in millimetres or inches and we build to it exactly.
